Today is an exciting day in the long-term processor war between Intel and AMD. In recent years Intel has been out and out in front however the release of the highly anticipated Ryzen processors is sure to create some stir!

Early reports by AMD show that their new Ryzen chips do outperform Intel’s, however it’s also known that sometimes providers cherry pick tests that they know their hardware will excel on. Only time will tell whether these new high-powered chips are actually as good as AMD claim them to be but if they can get close to Intel’s performance levels, factoring in the lower prices of AMD chips over Intel’s SKUs it could prove beneficial to AMD in sales.

The first three processors to be released are the Ryzen 7 chips, believed to be the performance chips in the series, these of all coming with 8-cores, 16 threads and base clock rates, ranging from 3.4GHz to 4GHz.

Over the coming months we expect to see more processor releases including the 4 and 6-core Ryzen 5 chips, with low end Ryzen 3 series being slated for release a little later in the year.
